HELPFUL HINTS FOR THE REIKI PRACTITIONER

COME FROM LOVE AND COMPASSION - You chose to follow the path of a healer. In order to fulfill your purpose as a healer, it is important that you embrace love and compassion for all living things. When you are giving a Reiki treatment, set aside any fears, anger or resentment. Greet your client with love, kindness and compassion. By opening up your heart, you are also opening the doors to your healing potential and intensifying the effect of the Reiki energy. Also, by creating an environment of care and peacefulness, your client will be more open to receive the maximum amount of Reiki healing energy possible.

SET THE MOOD - Cleanse your healing area before the client arrives, either by smudging with sage (add some lavender and/or cedar if you have it) or bringing in the White Light and projecting it throughout the room. Ask your Guides, Masters and Light Beings who have chosen to be of service to you while you are in lesson on Earth to bless and cleanse your healing area and protect it from any negativity. If you like, play some soft, healing music and keep the lights to a minimum. Candles are nice if you think your client would also appreciate them. Although it is acceptable to talk to your client during the treatment, try to maintain a meditative-type state of mind and allow your consciousness to merge with the Reiki energy.

FOLLOW YOUR INTUITION - The Basic Treatment is only to be used as a guideline. Trust in your intuitive abilities. If you are guided to place your hands a certain way or in certain places, follow your intuition. It is being guided by Divine Presence, and you cannot ever do anything wrong. Also, remember that the time limit set is only approximate. If you feel a chakra is completely open and aligned and want to spend more time somewhere else, that is perfectly acceptable. No treatment is too short or too long. Reiki is self-regulating.

DON'T FORGET YOUR FEET - Many Reiki Practitioners have discovered that the Reiki energy flows from the bottoms of their feet in the same way as it does from the palms of their hands. If this is true with you, why not take advantage of it? My husband (a Reiki Master) and I often sleep with our feet touching (sole to sole . . . or is that soul to soul?). If you are working with a client who is sitting in a chair, you can place your feet close to him/her, and the Reiki energy will help in cleansing his/her aura.
