HELPFUL HINTS FOR THE REIKI PRACTITIONER

ALWAYS GET PERMISSION

It is important to always get permission from whomever you would like to give Reiki to.  It is important to remember, though, that even though a subject may openly state he/she wishes healing, the subconscious (or unconscious) mind might not really be ready to be healed. When this is the case, the best you can hope to achieve with your subject is relaxation and raising consciousness so that the subject can work out (with and/or without counseling) the reasons why he/she is not ready to accept healing.

WATCH YOUR EGO

Always remember, you are not the healer. Your subject is the healer. You are merely acting as a channel for the Reiki energy to flow through your subject and facilitate healing, according to your subject's Divine Will and Purpose.

Think of yourself as a watering can. Your subject requests healing. The Reiki healing energy then pours into you (through your Crown Chakra). As you lay your hands on the subject, the Reiki healing energy pours out of you and into the subject.

Most of my Reiki initiates seem to grasp this Truth when their subjects are healed. They realize that they are merely channels for the Reiki energy, and their subjects were healed because it was according to the subject's Divine Will and Purpose.

What I have found, though, is many of my initiates felt it was their fault when the Reiki energy did not seem to facilitate healing for their subjects.

"What am I doing wrong?" they would ask.

"Absolutely nothing!" I would reply. "If the subject is not healed, it is because the subject is not ready or willing to be healed."

EXPLAINING REIKI TO YOUR CLIENTS

Many of my initiates find it difficult to explain to their clients how Reiki works. I suggest that they first explain that within all living things flows what we call Life Force Energy. For most of us, this energy comes from the Sun.  When the Sun is blocked by clouds for more than two or three days, we are forced to exist either on the energy we have stored up or by absorbing energy from other life forms. This explains why we become lethargic and, sometimes, "testy" during long periods when the Sun's energy is blocked.

This Life Force Energy flows within us through pathways (called meridians) and energy centers (called chakras), nourishing the organs and cells, and allowing the body to do its natural healing process.

Quite often, due to stress, fear, anxiety, anger, negative thoughts and actions, etc. (normal every-day stuff?!?), some of our energy centers and pathways become blocked, and the Life Force Energy cannot flow properly. Consequently, if the body cannot perform its natural healing abilities, we become subject to "dis"ease, accidents and pain.

Reiki automatically seeks out those pathways and energy centers that are blocked. It gently, yet powerfully, opens them, cleanses them and re-aligns them. In other words, Reiki transmutes the negative energy that created the blockages into positive, healing energy. It raises the vibratory level of the client and facilitates a calm, relaxed, stress-free state of being.

On the next two pages, I have included a matrix showing the main chakras, their psychological functions, the color associated with each chakra, the sound associated with each chakra and some stones which are associated with each chakra. I have also provided a drawing showing the Sanskrit names and locations of the chakras.

Please note that I have added a new chakra to the basic seven chakras. This is not a new chakra.  However, it was programmed not to open up until we reached a certain level of enlightenment.  Although I do not know the Sanskrit name for this chakra, we call it the Unified Trinity Chakra (the unification of the Christ Light, the Buddhic Light and The Mahatma).  It is located between the throat and heart chakras (in the area of the sternum) and is associated with the color pink. When my Universal Love and Teaching Chakra began to open, I felt a tightening and some pulsations in the sternum area. This lasted for about three weeks. Now I feel a very warm and loving glow emanating from this chakra.
